The Writers Union of Morocco
The preparatory committee of the 18th convention of the Writers Union of Morocco, decided on Tuesday to postpone the event for two months, as a result of \"sudden financial
problems\" relating to delays in the announcement of the country\'s financial laws of 2012.
Mohammed Boudouic, a member of the union\'s executive bureau, stated: \"The preparatory committee has decided to postpone this event to a later date as a result of a lack of necessary funds required to hold a convention which in turn reflects the writers\' ambition to engineer a positive change compared to the previous events.\"
The preparatory committee issued a statement which among other things \"took into account the immediate financial problems which occurred due to the delay in issuing Morocco\'s financial laws for 2012. This then affected the commitment of our main sponsors, along with governmental institutions that used to support the Union\'s events. Hence the committee has decided to postpone this convention for a maximum of two months\".
The statement added: \"The committee has established a branch committee assigned to the financial support. The new committee will coordinate with the executive bureau for assurances in regards to success of this event. The preparatory committee will meet again on April 14 to continue its discussions about the cultural issues and legal amendments that were noted in the previous meetings.\"
