Syrian cinema will be honoured at the festival
The Moroccan city of Agadir is preparing to host the fifth International Documentary Film Festival from 22 to 28 April 2013. The ministry of culture and education is responsible for organising the event in partnership with Moroccan ministry of
communication. Syrian cinema will be honoured during the festival.
Director of the festival, Hicham Falah, told Arabstoday that "the present session of the festival will show 40 documentary shorts and full features from different countries. The program includes an international competition to choose the best documentary for 2013. It also includes films from Maghreb and Mashriq, to highlight the diversity and vitality of documentary film making in neighboring countries."
The festival is an opportunity to introduce new filmmakers, who have emerged from the African continent and the Arab states. Uroa Tirabaa, producer and founder of the Syrian Cinema festival, is scheduled to deliver a speech at the festival on the crucial role played by filmmakers in the ongoing Syrian conflict.
