Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah
Maraya Art Centre, an initiative by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), is all set to host the third edition of PechaKucha Night Sharjah, the innovative platform for creative expression
, on September 28th 2013 at the Art Centre.
A unique new approach to artistic endeavours and thought, the idea behind PechaKucha Night has become a worldwide phenomenon. Having been featuring in over 500 cities, the title \"PechaKucha\" is actually a transliteration of the Japanese term for the sound of \"chit-chat\'. The concept was first conceived by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, of Tokyo\'s Klein-Dytham Architecture firm, as a way to attract people to their Tokyo event space.
PechaKucha is based on a simple 20 x 20 format - each presenter is allowed to show 20 images with 20 seconds allocated per image. This format allows for concise and lucid presentations, offering an impressive opportunity to aspiring artists and visionaries to express their ideas, showcase their talents, reach out, and network.
PechaKucha Night Sharjah will be held at Maraya Art Centre and is co-organised by Sharjah natives, Salem Al Qassimi, founder of Fikra Design Studio, and Maryam Al Dabbagh, an independent writer and researcher.
This edition will once again feature a diverse selection of projects and topics, and talking about the event, Maraya Art Centre\'s Manager Giuseppe Moscatello, said, \"It has been a source of great pleasure to host such stimulating activities. The past two events have met with resounding success and the third edition will again provide a fantastic chance for aspiring talents to entertain and engage their audience in an exciting manner. Our primary goal has always been to attract nascent talent and, looking at the enormous response the event has generated thus far, we are looking forward to unlocking and nurturing the bourgeoning potential of these talented individuals.\" He added, \"PechaKucha has provided a brilliant platform for creatives who have vociferously showcased their immense talent. It is truly a fantastic opportunity for them to gain some vital exposure and experience, and also to connect, network, and make contacts.\" Hosting PechaKucha Night Sharjah comes in line with the Maraya Art Centre\'s commitment to provide the community in Sharjah with a platform for creative individuals to network and be inspired.
