Egyptian National Film Festival, cinema director Samir Sif
Head of the Egyptian National Film Festival, cinema director Samir Sif, has confirmed the postponement of this year’s June gala.
Saif cited the conflict within the Ministry of Culture as the cause for delay. The ministry in Egypt is currently experiencing instability due to the current political climate.
The festival was scheduled to be held in the opera house in Cairo. Saif asserts that the celebration is postponed and not cancelled, adding that preparations are complete. The festival catalogues, books of honourees and posters have all been designed.
After meeting the head of the Cultural Development Fund, Mohammed Abu Samhadana, Saif added that he expects the festival to start in September.
