‘UAE Authors at the Festival!' – a book launch and signing celebration part of Abu Dhabi Festival 2015 – saw the launch of six new Arabic literature books last night by popular and up and coming Emirati authors, Ali Abu Alreesh, Dr. Faleh Handal, Yasser Hareb, Aysha Sultan, and Alya Ibrahim.
Held at The Space, twofour54, in collaboration with publishing houses, Madarek Publishing, Dar Warak, and Hamaleel, the authors along with representatives from their publishing houses, were present to greet fans and enthusiasts, answer questions, and sign first editions of their new books.
Present at the signing was Hoda I. Al Khamis-Kanoo, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) and the Abu Dhabi Festival.
She said, "2015 edition of Abu Dhabi Festival has seen the largest representation of Emirati artists, musicians, filmmakers, poets, authors and creative minds come together in the history of the Festival. There is an immense amount of Emirati talent nurtured within the UAE and we at Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation are immensely proud to launch initiatives such as ‘UAE Authors at the Festival' which helps to play a part in highlighting this hotbed of talent to not only the UAE, but the rest of the world."
Launched during the event was ‘Al Gharbia: A Bird with Eight Wings' and ‘Emirati Faces' by Ali Abu Alreesh, ‘A Glossary of the Colloquial Emirati Dialect' by Dr. Faleh Handal, ‘Take Off Your Shoes' by Yasser Hareb, ‘Cities &Travelling & Leaving' by Aysha Sultan, and ‘Three Women & A City' by Alya Ibrahim.
