Aymen Abdennour says Tunisia must push on
Tunis – Hamdi Mustapha
The Tunisian national team's Aymen Abdennour has said that the squad's 1-0 win over Algeria on Tuesday gave them a mental and psychological boost, but they have now "turned the page" for their next African
Cup of Nations (ACN) fixture against Ivory Coast.
The defender told reporters: "Starting this sort of a tournament with a good result give the team some confidence and a desire to work harder, but we have now turned the page on Algeria and begun preparation for the Ivory Coast match."
The 23-year old Toulouse centre-back said victory in the Group D opener has given Sami Trabelsi's men something to build on. "The win means that we must not fall into the trap of complacency, which usually ends badly. It reflects our desire to go far in this competition," he added.
Speaking about ACN favourites Ivory Coast, Abdennour said, "they have been tipped quite strongly for the title, but they won't win it at our expense, we'll show them the best we've got."
