Lance Armstrong is participating in the University of Texas event
Lance Armstrong is ready to return to competitive sport as a swimmer.
The disgraced cyclist has had all seven of his Tour de France
titles stripped after he was revealed to be part of a doping scandal that spread throughout the sport.
However, the American has decided to take the plunge and has entered the Masters South Central Zone Swimming Championships at the University of Texas in his home city of Austin. Armstrong will compete in the freestyle events over 500, 1,000, and 1,650 yards.
The event is outside the jurisdiction of his US Anti-Doping Agency and World Anti-Doping Agency’s codes from which Armstrong is banned for life.
