Tarek Yehia has managed Egypt's Misr el-Makasa in the past
Saudi club Hajer's board of directors have turned down the resignation submitted by club manager Tarek Yehia.
The Egyptian coach has struggled to maintain a consistent run of form, with Hajer
sitting in 13th place in the Saudi Professional League on 15 points.
It is hoped that the vote of confidence from the board would give the players an incentive to turn their season around.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the club said it had faith in Yehia to do well, and wanted to achieve a level of stability. The club claimed that replacing Yehia at this moment in time would be "critical" and the board "does not want to change the management."
According to the statement, the club's board had discussed the manager's resignation "carefully and thoroughly," with an understanding of the former Misr el-Makasa manager's "knowledge of players and the Saudi Professional League competitors."
"The club's board hopes that the results will improve and that Hajer will move beyond this dark patch," the statement said, adding, "we feel that the club's board is the most qualified judge of Hajer's best interests at this juncture."
