Conference attendees are expected to discuss the future of sports in Syria
The Free Syrian Sports Association is set to hold its first general conference in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday.
The two-day conference will
be attended by the organisation's 350-strong Syrian athletes membership, and the opening speech will by made by Syrian National Coalition leader Moaz al-Khatib.
Delegates will analyse the role of sports in the Syrian revolution, and discuss the future of sport after the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime. The Free Syrian Sports Association will also conduct its leadership elections.
The conference comes just days after the International Federation of Karate suspended the Syrian team's membership, banning it from participation in karate competitions.
