Drydocks World and Maritime World, the international service providers to the maritime, oil, gas, and energy sectors, is sponsoring Rashid Al Dhaheri, the youngest Emirati driver to consistently compete at the highest levels and win international races on professional karting circuits in his age category.
Drydocks World and Maritime World said they are dedicated to the growth of the young Emirati talent and look forward to working with Rashid to achieve his goals and full potential in professional racing.
The Abu Dhabi school boy is referred to as ‘Little Alonso' after two-time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso, and has undertaken an intensive training course held by the Italian federation ACI CSAI in Naples, Italy, under the watchful eyes of ex-Formula 1 team owner Giancarlo Minardi.
Invariably the youngest of the group, Rashid at 6 years old participated in races and events for drivers between age 6 to 8, impressing ex-Formula 1 driver, Ferrari GT works driver Gianmaria "Gimmi" Bruni, who has signed Rashid to his karting team. Rashid will now proudly wear the Drydocks World and Maritime World logo on the left chest of his racing suit while he achieves further triumphs on the racetrack.
Rashid has excelled this season despite racing in foreign conditions and on tracks he has never seen before at legendary karting venues where the likes of Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Robert Kubica, Giancarlo Fisichella, Riccardo Patrese, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg (to name a few) competed in their formative years, on a well-trodden path to the pinnacle of the sport.
On several occasions Rashid was faced with inclement weather conditions, and nevertheless adapted with ease attaining enviable results irrespective of the adverse weather elements. Rashid has established himself as a front runner and has won seventeen races during the course of this year. After a successful intensive karting tour in Italy, Rashid participated and raised the U.A.E. flag on the highest step in the Parolin Academy International Final last weekend.
Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Dubai Maritime City extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for their unlimited support for the youth of the country.
"In accordance with their guidance and direction which puts the U.A.E. national prosperity at the top of their priorities, we are proud to recognise and sponsor our hero, "the Hero of the U.A.E.," Rashid Al Dhaheri and congratulate him on his recent victory in Italy," said Buamim.
