Sadomba is currently at Sudanese club Al-Hilal
Al-Ahly have confirmed their interest in signing Zimbabwean striker Edward Sadomba, next month.
In a statement on the official website, the Red Devils identified the 29-year old
as one of three players coach Hossam el-Badry is interested in bringing to Cairo.
The club recently sent Ivorian striker Oussou Konan on loan to Saudi club Hajer, and are keen to fill the void through the acquisition of the Sudanese Al-Hilal frontman.
\"Coach Hossam El-Badry has discussed with the football committee the potential targets for the coming period. El-Badry wants to sign a midfielder, striker and top class goalkeeper ... the nominations include Edward Sadomba,\" the statement said.
Sadomba finished this year’s CAF Confederation Cup as the joint top scorer with five goals. He was also the Champions League top scorer last year. The speedy forward has scored 23 goals in CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup games since 2008.
Ahly\'s four strikers have failed to hit form in a country where the domestic league has been suspended since February. Striker Dominique Da Silva recently said that he wanted to leave the Cairo club because the coach \"ignored\" him during the FIFA Club World Cup, in Japan.
A date has not been set for the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League, which means Ahly\'s next game will be against Congo’s Leopards in the African Super Cup in February.
