Hadi: This requires all Yemenis to forget about the past
Sanaa - Ali Rabea

Hadi: This requires all Yemenis to forget about the past President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi has said that the UN Security Council will hold a session in Yemen, affirming that all members of the UN Security Council will visit Yemen. In a meeting held with the Yemeni parliament on Wednesday, President Hadi stressed that the UN’s emergency session in Sanaa confirmed international support for Yemen’s projected political settlement. “This requires all Yemenis to look forward and forget about the past,” Hadi said.
The President meanwhile claimed the country’s political situation had improved, despite “extraordinary circumstances.” All parties should be “united in their national task,” he added, to represent “national unity, embodying it in all senses.”
Tensions are running high. On Tuesday, parliament witnessed a verbal quarrel between Sultan Borkani, the head of Hadi’s Popular Congress Party [PCP], and Mohammed Assadi, a member of the Islamist Reform Party and Minister for Planning and International Cooperation. The two men were arguing over the 2013 state budget, which the PCP has called a “disaster.”
Representatives meanwhile rejected a bill calling for reconciliation and transitional justice. Members of parliament have criticised the bill as a personal project pushed by the PCP and President Hadi himself.
In a speech to the assembly, the Yemeni President celebrated “reconciliation and tolerance” festivities, which southern opposition factions held in Aden on Sunday, meanwhile hinting that celebrations should not just be reserved to the country's south.
Hadi also claimed he would announce the date for a conference on national dialogue soon.
Political analysts have meanwhile claimed the United Nations announcement for the Security Council to convene in Yemen represents a clear message from the international community that it will support transition in Yemen.
