Thousands of Sudanese protested against the film
Khartoum / Abedalgoum Ashmeag

Thousands of Sudanese protested against the film It was reported that three demonstrators were killed in clashes that took place in front of the American embassy in Khartoum on Friday afternoon. The clashes took place between security forces and demonstrators protesting against the anti-Islamic film. Meanwhile, the source said that in Khartoum, demonstrations resulted in killing one person after he was run over by a car. It was not confirmed if it was a police car.
Thousands of Sudanese besieged the German embassy in Khartoum and set fire to its surroundings.
Security forces confronted them, after they tried to break into it. The Sudanese Foreign Ministry summoned the acting American ambassador and the German Ambassador for displaying the film that offends the Prophet Muhammad. Germany also re-published the anti-Islam cartoons.
The summoning of the ambassadors was before the huge march from Khartoum mosques to the the rest of the cities, to protest against the offensive. The Spokesman of the Sudanese Foreign Ministry Ambassador Al-Obaid Ahmed Marawahm, said that the protest would be rational and civilised.
The Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Religious Endowments said: "The Muslim people of Sudan has the right to defend their religion and Islam’s Prophet.” It also said in a statement which Arabstoday managed to receive a copy, their rejection for offending the Prophet Muhammad does not mean assaulting innocent lives.
The statement also said: "The villains and fools returned to offending Islam and Muslims in the name of freedom of expression and thought."
It noted that the official institution in the United States and Britain have banned in the seventies a film about a Christian pastor for insulting religion. However, when the hatred of Islam started, the western institutions refrained from implementing these laws under the pretext of protecting freedom of expression.
The ministry said:"Silence regarding such action means clear bias.”
Police spokesman Maj Seer Ahmed said: "The police is trying to control the situation through spreading in the area."
He said in a brief statement to Arabstoday, that the police is now conducting accurate statistics before announcing the figures of victims killed or injured.
In the same context, the Secretary General of the Association of Mustafa peace be upon him, Sheikh Mohammed Ali Jazouli, attacked some Western countries, saying: "They adopt a policy to tighten Islam and Muslims by preventing women from wearing a veil in France and banning the construction of minarets in Switzerland. While Netherlands and Denmark published some writings and cartoons that offends the Islamic religion. " Jazouli confirmed: "The consequences of those actions will be disastrous for international peace and security."
The Sudanese foreign ministry expressed its refusal and condemnation for displaying the offensive film and cartoons. Ambassador Rahmatallah Mohamed Osman said: "Sudan strongly condemns and rejects this attitude." The Sudanese foreign ministry summoned the American Chargé d'Affaires and the German Ambassador in Khartoum and informed them that Sudan rejects and objects on the offensive film.
He affirmed:"The protection of embassies and diplomatic missions is the responsibility of the Sudanese government."
Researcher in Islamic Affairs Engineer Sulaiman Sadek said: “In the coming years, the residents of most European cities will be Muslims, which increases the fear of the extreme right-wing from the Islamic tide so they will raise the spirit of hostility between the Islamic world and the West to be able to justify war on terror."
Sadek added: "This act is violent and unjustified as the West is not whole heartedly against Islam. There are those who clearly defend Muslim issues and fear the consequences of racial extremism and tyranny.”
He concluded: "I do not approve the idea of ??expelling the ambassadors and the closure of embassies. We do not accept abuses of the Prophet Muhammed.”
The Sudanese authorities have affirmed that they are capable of protecting and securing diplomatic envoys in the country as the official and popular protests are expected to violently escalate in the next few hours.
