Jordanian intelligence stops terrorist plan
Amman – Osama al Rantissi

Jordanian intelligence stops terrorist plan Amman – Osama al Rantissi According to an official statement issued on Sunday evening, the Jordanian General Intelligence Department (GID) announced that they had stopped a terrorist plot organised by a group of 11 people related to Al-Qaeda. Labelled as 9/11 in reference to the Amman hotel bombings of 2005, the plan targeted the Jordanian National Security.
Since June, the group started planning a big operation targeting commercial and vital centres, critical targets and sites, as well as foreign citizen in an attempt to terrify the Jordanian people and to spread chaos. They believed this would lead to state of security distortion in the kingdom, and accordingly they would start implementing similar and repeated operations. They thought if the security bodies are busy with several issues this would give the group the chance to apply their criminal plots.
The terrorist group prepared integrated plans to implement their criminal operations and decided their targets. They explored their targets, prepared implementation mechanisms for the operations using explosives, bombed cars, gun machines and mortar shells.
The group, which was under continuous surveillance at every stage by GID, experimented with explosives after procuring basic material and consulting with senior explosives’ experts from Al-Qaeda in Iraq through terrorist and extremist websites.
The experiments were focused on creating explosives that would cause the highest destruction possible resulting in the largest number of live losses and extensive damage of facilities.
Making use of the ongoing crisis in Syria, they also planned to bring TNT explosives and mortar shells from there.
The group was able to produce new types of explosives to be used for the first time and planned to add TNT to their product in order to increase their destructive power. They believed their experiments with the explosive material succeeded, so they published them on the terrorist and extremist websites of Al-Qaeda so that other extremists would make use of them. Afterwards, they started selecting people and potential suicide bombers to implement their plots.
At the beginning, the plans targeted foreign diplomats from hotels and public areas, arriving to Abdoun where the main criminal plan was supposed to take place. They chose Abdoun for being a vital and critical area that includes several foreign facilities and missions.
The preliminary plan of the group was bombing two major shopping malls in order to draw the attention of the security bodies and make them busy, then after a small time interval attack other critical local and diplomatic targets and sites by suicides wearing explosive belts, explosive devices, trapped cars and gun machines and finally mortar shelling the while area.
After seizing their machine guns, ammunition, basic material used for the manufacture of explosives, computers, cameras and false documents, the case was transferred to the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court for further investigation.
