Tahrir Square
Cairo - Akram Ali

Tahrir Square Security forces controlled Tahrir Square, which was evacuated by demonstrators. The square was opened once again for cars, after it was closed down during its evacuation from the demonstrators and rioters. The traffic became gradually normal. Ca The atmosphere was calm but cautiousness prevailed the area surrounding the American embassy in Cairo, after clashes that lasted until early hours of Saturday morning.
The Hygiene Department in Cairo started to empty out wastes, rubbish, and stone parts of Tahrir Square. For the first time in a long while, there are were street vendors in the square.
Security forces are still pursuing rioters in the nearby side streets.
Firefighters extinguished the car that was set on fire by protesters.
A security source at the Ministry of Interior, said that the surrounding area of the American embassy witnessed events and violations.
They are preparing to take effective measures to fight the rioters who do not belong to any forces, trends or political movements. They are considered law-breakers for attacking and damaging public and diplomatic properties, as well as police officers. They put the community's security at a major risk.
About 20 vehicles from the central security force filled with thousands of security personnels left Tahrir Square as well as four armoured vehicles which were heading to the central security camp in el Darasa, after they succeeded in arresting the rioters.
A state of calmness prevailed on Saturday morning in the area that surrounds the American embassy in Garden City, after a night of violent clashes and hit-and-run between demonstrators and police forces in which each party tried to tighten its grip on the other party.
Some demonstrators who are aged between 15 and 20 years, confirmed that they will continue to demonstrate their demands to cut the diplomatic relations between Cairo and Washington. They also want to expel the American Ambassador Anne Patterson in Cairo, until the US government makes a formal apology for the film that offended Islam’s Prophet.
