The Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi Cairo – Akram Ali The Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi, denied the news about the ban of Armed forces Tantawi and Annan from travelling marking it as an unintentional “offence.” During the life ammunition project in the second army field in Sinai, Morsi said that appropriate legal actions were taken against the journalist who published the false news about the former Armed Forces leaders in Al-Gomhuria newspaper. He added that there is an ongoing investigation about this false news, noting that he mentioned before that out of lack of awareness, people are offending the armed forces for raising stir and abuse.
President Morsi said he is in continuous contact with Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Former Commander of the Armed Forces, and General Sami Annan, former Armed Forces Chief of Staff.
President Morsi congratulated the Egyptian people and the Armed forces personnel in memory of October 6 victory, and the approach of Eid al-Adha feast, stressing that the Egyptian people are united and there are some stirs aiming to divide the people, but that would never succeed in dividing the people.
He added that all the reserves of the armed forces are protects, and their potentials are increasing than before, stating: \"There are those who raise some issues to negatively affect the morals of Armed Forces’ sons. Do not consider these talks and pass my greetings to all the Egyptian people.”
The Chairman of Shura Council and Supreme Press Council, Ahmed Fahmy, referred Al Gomhuria editor-in-chief Gamal Abdel Rahim to the Ethics committee of the Supreme Press Council to be interrogated about the news he published in the newspaper stating that a decree preventing Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi and General Sami Anan from travelling in the next hours.
Fahmy requested a report about the issue from the committee to be discussed in the first session held of the Shura Council and the Supreme Press Council.
Dr Ahmed Fahmy have decided to refer the issue to the press committee of the Supreme Press Council to prepare a report about it before submitting it the Council, and also referred the issue to the Culture committee to prepare its report and submit it to the general committee then the Shura Council.
