The Ministry of Infrastructure Development announced that the projects that it will begin in the next five years will involve the security, education, health and service sectors, as well as the construction of federal roads, as it completes its planning of the final operational details for these projects.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, stressed that the Ministry’s planned five-year projects will include the construction of buildings for several national police commands, a number of courts, as well as prosecution offices, along with developing and raising the efficiency of the federal roads network, with the aim of strengthening the connection between the country’s regions.
He added that the projects will also include the construction of the fourth generation of smart schools, as well as health centres for the Ministry of Health and Prevention, which comes in line with JCI standards from the directives of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, to complete the healthcare centre system and cover all areas of the country. The authorities that will benefit, from ministries to federal authorities, are the main beneficiaries of the Ministry’s projects.
He also announced that the Ministry’s work plan for 2017 involves issuing tenders for four projects during the first quarter. This includes developing the Citizenship and Residence Building in Sharjah, establishing the Dental Centre in Khorfakkan, and locating the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kalba in Sharjah and in Ras al-Khaimah, at an estimated cost of AED180 million.
As for the strategic plan of the Ministry, he said that the previous stage imposed a challenge, which was represented in enabling the sustainability of development and maintaining a modern infrastructure system. These are necessary for economic, social, environmental, cultural and security development.
He further noted that with numerous authorities contributing to building, developing, sponsoring and managing different elements of the infrastructure, the Ministry will develop the projects in an effective way. All of the concerned authorities will also collaborate to update the infrastructure, which occupies the top spot globally.
