Explosion at a Turkish construction company in Al-Noor Street in Tripoli
Tripoli - Imad Ajaj
Eye witnesses have told Arabs Today that there has been an explosion at a Turkish construction company in Al-Noor Street in the Libyan capital.
Witnesses said that the Ben Gasheer Palace neighborhood,
where the Turkish company was located, had been used by Gaddafi loyalists to store missiles before the National Transitional Council seized Tripoli. As a result of the munitions sites, the area has witnessed many explosions since the beginning of the uprising in February.
Ambulances have headed to the area and civilians have been evacuated.
There are current no details on the number of people killed in the explosion.
30 people were killed in a similar explosion in March in a weapons storage facility in Bani Gazi.
Althoughs ources have suggested that the explosion might have been caused by an attack by Gaddafi loyalists, a munitions depot guard claims that it was a munitions explosion.
"The munitions exploded because they were badly stored."
"Two people were hurt in the explosion and were taken to hospital."
