Speaker of Libyan parliament Okila Saleh warned the Italian authority of their approach to support the national unity government headed by Libya's Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj, stressing that the current government has not gained the parliamentary confidence.
He added, during a meeting with Italy's Ambassador to Tripoli, that the current government is not constitutional calling the Italian government to review its position. He threatened to review the petroleum contracts the Italian companies concluded with Libya's National Petroleum Institution.
Italy is considered one of Sarraj's major allies, as it provided military support for the forces loyal to the presidential council during their fight to liberate Surge. It also provided a hospital to treat their injuries inside Misrata military base.
Sarraj is scheduled to hold a visit to Turkey on Wednesday in response to a formal invitation from Turkish prime minister Ali Yeldream. Sources revealed that the Libyan official will hold bilateral talks on the sideline of the visit focusing on the recent developments witnessed in the country.
