Tyres burning during a protest in Khartoum Khartoum – Abed Algayom Ashmeag During a meeting on Thursday in the Presidential Palace in Khartoum with the minister of interior, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamed, Sudan\'s vice president Dr Haj Adam Youssef, was briefed about the overall security situation and the performance level of the ministry.
The interior minister announced through a  statement following the meeting: \"everything is stable, thanks to the efforts and vigilance  of the citizens, the police and security departments.\"
The minister added that the meeting had discussed the security situation on the borders, and the productivity of the agricultural season, adding that the vigilance of citizens had thwarted those whose intention it was \"to rattle the security and stability of Sudan, adding that he believed citizens were understanding about the economic measures, which, he said:  \"are the best guarantee for the country to pass from this stage to the stage of full stability and development.\"
He affirmed that the vice-president had given instructions to intensify efforts to provide more security, and to deal with all violations, according to the law, constitution, rights and freedom of expression.
Several groups called for demonstrations on the social networking site Facebook on Friday, but Dr Haj Adam Youssef was dismissive, saying \"they will not bear fruit\", adding that those who were inciting them \"come from outside Sudan\".
In an interview with \'Dubai\' satellite channel,  the vice president said  that overthrowing the current \"rescue government\" is impossible, adding that the government doesn\'t object to peaceful demonstrations, \"but will not allow vandals to take advantage of the situation.\"
Haj Adam accused parties and foreign bodies, which he didn\'t name of \"infiltrating\" the country and using the government\'s measures to remove subsidies on fuel,  as an excuse to achieve their target which was to undermine the regime.  He also denounced the media for highlighting citizens\' demonstrations against the government, pointing out that the people themselves previously came out in favour of the government in Heglig\'s Tahrir, after the Sudanese Army recovered it from the South Sudan State.
Some sources have  announced that  preparations have been put in place by the security authorities to prevent any expected demonstrations or protests.
President Bashir\'s first vice president Ali Othman Taha, highlighted the importance of tightening and improving  the coordination between the ministry of finance and the ministry of social security, to implement social measures related to workers, pensioners, students and other members of society who are vulnerable to the economic measures being imposed, to minimise any negative effects to their income.
His comments followed a meeting Thursday. concerning the austerity measures to be imposed, in the presence of the minister of commerce Othman Omar al Sharif, minister of welfare and social security, Amira al Fadel, Khartoum governor Dr Abdul Rahman al Khedr, minister of state in the ministry of finance funds and social work and social security mechanisms. Dr Abdul Rahman Derar.
Taha gave instructions that the new social austerity measures are to be applied starting July 30.
