Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with King Abdullah II
Amman - Osama Al Rantissi
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with King Abdullah II An alleged secret visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Jordan has raised anger from different opposition parties. Muslim Brotherhood's official Hamam Said has criticised the secret visit describing Netanyahu as an extremist. Said also stated the importance of letting the Jordanian people know of this visit, rather than keeping it hidden.
The group's official also described the Israeli Prime Minister as an enemy of Jordan, not a friend, adding that citizens should refuse such a visit.
According to Anatolia news agency, the deputy supreme guide of Muslim Brotherhood, Zaki Beni Arshidah, said Netanyahu is "a criminal who targeted Jordan in different political positions" and his visit is "strongly condemned". Arshidah added that the Israelis worked to target the head of Hamas’ political figure, Khaled Mashaal, in addition to violating the Jordanian sovereignty.
"Netanyahu has adopted a number of extremist positions against Jordan and Palestine and works to find an alternative homeland for the Palestinians in Jordan," the deputy added.
The Jordanian government has now been urged to announce reasons behind the visit by many groups and officials.
