The Israeli army have announced that they will launch a military operation on Gaza called "Operation Cast Lead 2", the Israeli Channel 7 reported.
The operation aims at destroying all tunnels in Gaza. Israel is waiting for any opportunity
to launch the offensive against the Strip, the channel said. An Israeli soldier reportedly said that the right opportunity will come out of Hamas launching a rocket on a school, assassinating an Israeli official or kidnapping a soldier.
Israel's channel 2 added that the Israeli army understands the possible consequences of such an operation.
The Israeli forces have been preparing this offensive for four years, the channel said. the presenter added: "Now, the one-million-dollar question is: when will Israel launch the operation?"
The Israeli army raised security measures on the borders with Egypt and deployed sophisticated sensor system along the new fence.
According to the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot, the new measures will increase security along the 40km fence, especially around the 'Dune sector' as this is the most dangerous area.
Observers said the new measures will work as a sensitive web, which will send an immediate alert as soon as someone tries to breach the security barrier.
