Israelis.
Israeli warplanes and naval forces heavily shelled the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Wednesday morning for the eighth day in a row since the beginning of the Israeli campaign against the besieged enclave, destroying several private and government buildings.
Among the targeted buildings was the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Security, a police compound and tunnels used to transport fuel.
In southern Gaza, Israel bombed the al-Karama security compound, west of Rafah, and flattened the police station in Khan Younis, also damaging several buildings in its vicinity.
The Abu Khadra government building in central Gaza City was hit multiple times. The attack also damaged the offices of Al Jazeera and The Associated Press.
Shortly before midnight, an Israeli attack targeted a building housing the Gaza City office of Agence France-Presse, an AFP photographer said. He said at least three attacks appeared to have hit the sixth floor.
It was the fourth day in a row that Israeli airstrikes damaged buildings housing media offices. On Tuesday, airstrikes killed three journalists.
The total death toll of the Israeli attacks rose to 157, while more than 1200 were injured after Tuesday, which witnessed the killing of 32 Palestinians across Gaza, medical sources said.
On the other hand, an Israeli soldier was killed on Tuesday by a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said.
They identified the slain soldier as 18-year-old Youssef Fartuk, from Israeli settlement Immanuel in the northern West Bank.
He was killed by a rocket fired from Gaza into the Eshkol Regional Council, a military statement said.
Another Israeli man, a Bedouin construction worker for the Israeli ministry of defense, was also killed on Tuesday after a rocket exploded near Beersheba, Israeli media reported.
Another man was reported injured in the attack.
The army said earlier that five Israeli soldiers were lightly to moderately injured by a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip, without specifying the location.
Four Israelis were also lightly injured when a rocket directly hit a six-story building in Rishon Lezion, just south of Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, Hamas\' al-Qassam Brigades hijacked Israeli TV channels on Tuesday evening and broadcast messages warning against a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, the group said.
The Israeli media reports said viewers reported that broadcasts were interrupted by short films with Hamas insignia showing an Israeli army tank being hit by a missile.
\"This is a message to the armoured corps,\" the text read.
A video uploaded to YouTube claims to show the interruption on Channel 10. The text reads in Hebrew and Arabic: \"A message for the Zionist tanks forces,\" then \"Do you remember.\"
The Israeli reports said that Hamas has interrupted only the satellite broadcast of the Israeli channels, while the cable broadcast was not interrupted.
Egypt is still trying to broker a truce between Israel and groups in Gaza.
In Cairo, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called for an immediate ceasefire and said an Israeli ground operation in Gaza would be a \"dangerous escalation\" that must be avoided.
He had held talks in Cairo with Arab League chief Nabil El Araby and Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil before travelling to Israel for discussions with its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The UN Secretary General said he will be returning to Egypt on Wednesday to meet Egypt\'s President Mohammed Morsi, who was unavailable on Tuesday due to the death of his sister.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said a truce could take days to achieve, after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.
\"In the days ahead the United States will work with our partners here in Israel and across the region toward an outcome that bolsters security for the people of Israel, improves conditions for the people of Gaza and moves toward a comprehensive peace for all people of the region,\" Clinton said in Jerusalem.
Clinton is due to meet President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Wednesday..
