Egyptian activists living abroad Cairo – Akram Ali Egyptian activists living abroad called for organizing an “International Day of Solidarity with the Egyptian Revolution” on January 21, 4 days before the first anniversary for the breakout of the revolution. Founders of the Facebook invitation to the “International Day of Solidarity with the Egyptian Revolution” announced that 12 rallies are to be organized in different cities, including Washington, New York, and Dallas in the US, Paris in France, Toronto and Ottawa in Canada, and Sydney and Melbourne in Australia.
In the same context, Revolution Continues movement called for Egyptians expatriates in France to participate in a rally and expose the ‘Liars’ campaign waged against SCAF, Saturday January 21, as part of the International Day of Solidarity with the Egyptian Revolution.
The Movement added “the hope of preserving the revolution and realizing its demands lies in reuniting the people and not allowing the attempts of SCAF and their lies to destruct our strength and union,” thus calling for the international rally and the screening of the film “SCAF liars”.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Justice and Equality movement announced its intention to secure Tahrir Square during the celebrations that are to be held on January 25, as it set up a large campaign in various governorates across Egypt, to coordinate with the youth and arrange the activities of commemorating the revolution, and to set up people’s committees to secure the mass celebrations that are to take place.
Justice and Equality said in a published statement “we all saw during the last year how the Supreme Council of Armed Forces protected the revolution and tried with its full potential to achieve the demands of the people, despite the intensity of the pressures against it by the US administration, and that of some media figures and activists, and rebels who are funded by the US government and Egyptian billionaires,” according to their statement.
The movement concluded their statement saying that they appreciate SCAF’s efforts in protecting the country and the revolution, and are now calling on it to hand over the authorities to an elected civilian government by next June.
