6 killed in an explosion in Southern Gaza, west of Rafah Gaza – Mohammed Habib Palestinian medical sources confirmed today the death of at least 6 Palestinian citizens when an explosion took place in southern Gaza, west of Rafah, while a large number of Israeli surveillance aircrafts were flying overhead in the area. According to eye witnesses the explosion targeted the house of Abu Jamil Shaath in al Sho’ooth neighborhood west of Rafah, which claimed the lives of 5 people amongst them the owner of the house. The wounded and the killed were transported to Yusuf Abu al Najjar hospital. Palestinian Sources informed Arabstoday that the victims were activists in the Nasser Salaheddine brigades, the military wing of the popular resistance committees in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense minister Yahud Barak has declared recently that the Israeli army will target those responsible for the attacks which have inflicted victims and damages on Israeli settlements south of Israel. Barak called for an emergency meeting and met with the head of security agencies in Israel to discuss the latest developments on the Egyptian border. A spokesman for the Israeli army called on the inhabitants of Eilat not to come close to the Egyptian border before Israel ends its military operation in the region. Benjamin Netanyahu the Israeli PM was in continuous touch with Barak after the attacks took place in southern Israel on Thursday. The Israeli spokesman added that “Israeli response will take place as soon as Israeli intelligence unfolds the identities of those responsible for the attacks.“
