Thai Airways International recently launched a domestic promotion for travel from today 1 October to 31 December. Colourful Winter deals are not valid for THAI Smile flights, which is the low-cost subsidiary of the national airline. It is not clear why the airline is discounting fares during a peak sales period leading up to New Year, but tour operators say advance bookings are slow for the last quarter especially from Europe and this could be a response to tap the independent travel market. Fares are available immediately and have a travel validity of one month, but the departure must be made by 13 December. They are inclusive of taxes and surcharges and priced at: Bt4,620, Chiang Mai; Bt5,380, Chiang Rai; Bt4,050, Khon Kaen; Bt4,210, Udon Thani; Bt4,430,Ubon Ratchathai; Bt5,510, Phuket and Bt6,070, Hat Yai. One-way fares are also available at half price (excluding taxes and surcharges). Passengers can purchase these promotional fares through all distribution channels: THAI ticketing offices, travel agents and on the airline’s website www.thaiairways.com. From ttrweekly
