The number of foreign visitors to Spain rose to 7.9 million in August, the highest number ever in one month, government figures showed Friday. That was up from 7.7 million tourists in July, and a 5% increase from August 2011. The largest numbers of visitors came from Britain and France. The fastest-growing markets included Russia, with the number of Russian tourists going up by 47.5%. The tourism industry has remained a ray of hope amid the country’s economic crisis. Spain is one of the world’s top tourism destinations, with nearly 57 million foreign visitors in 2011.(QNA)
