Passenger traffic at Sharjah International Airport jumped 21.5 per cent with 640,941 passengers in October, according to the traffic report issued by the Sharjah Airport Authority. The record also indicates a total of 5,715 aircraft movements in October, up 6.9 per cent compared to 5,346 in the same month last year. It also handled 30,789 tonnes of cargo in the month. “One of our top priorities as Sharjah Airport Authority is to ensure that our passengers who are using the services and facilities of Sharjah International Airport are met and handled efficiently and smoothly. Our results for the month of October indicate a noticeable growth in passenger traffic and flight movements. This achievement symbolises the efficient procedures and excellent services that Sharjah International Airport can offer to its users,” said Ali Salim Al Midfa, director-general of the Sharjah Airport Authority . “Surely, the presence of Air Arabia adds a great value to our product, with all its unique services among travellers. Air Arabia spreads its wings to over 60 destinations from Sharjah with its modern fleet. All these factors encourage our passengers to travel several times a year through Sharjah International Airport,” he added. He said that the ongoing development projects carried out by airport management will encourage the airlines and companies — which are already operating at Sharjah International Airport to further increase their present operations — and will definitely increase the capacity of the airport to handle more than eight million passengers per year.
