Swedish Securitas, Europe\'s leading security services company, said Tuesday it had landed a contract to provide security at 32 Canadian airports worth 3.1 billion kronor ($484 million, 340 million euros). The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) had selected the Swedish company \"to provide passenger and baggage security screening services at 32 airports in the Eastern Region of Canada,\" Securitas said in a statement. The deal, which is worth 481 million Canadian dollars and is considered Securitas\' \"single largest customer contract,\" includes airports in the Canadian eastern provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, it said. The contract, handed to the Securitas unit that deals in airport security, will go into effect on November 1 and last for five and a half years, the company said, adding the deal had the possibility of being prolonged for an additional five years.
