RTA explores linking
Dubai - WAM

In an effort to facilitate access to Dubai Tram for hotel guests in the emirate, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has met with hotel representatives in the vicinity of the tramline.
Nasir Bu Shehab, Director of RTA Strategic Planning, stressed the efforts made by the RTA to improve the neighbourhood of stations in order to ease the movement of pedestrians and cyclists, and emphasised that it encourages riders, be it residents, tourists, or hotel visitors, to use the integrated transit modes, such as tram, metro and bus.
While the RTA familiarised the audience with the many benefits of Dubai Tram, which will be operational in November this year, hotel representatives as well as investors offered ideas and suggestions for an improved connection.
"The RTA can provide NOL cards at hotels along with maps depicting the tram stations to ease the use of this mode and avail the intended benefits of the project to our customers,” added Nasir during the meeting.
In the first phase, the Project serves Al Sufouh, Jumeirah Beach Residence Walk, Dubai Marina and the Knowledge Village. The tramline, which extends to approximately 11 kilometres and serves 11 stations, is scheduled to be in operation in November 2014 with services offered at 6 minute-interval in the first phase.
