A Moroccan pilot for Royal Air Maroc (RAM) was arrested by French authorities on March 18 upon landing in Nantes, on charges of having endangered the lives of others.
The middle-aged pilot had been sentenced for the charges in absentia in 2014 by the correctional court of Créteil, but neither the pilot nor the airline were aware of the legal proceedings against him.
The pilot had also been prosecuted for taking off from Orly airport in a plane with a fuel leak in 2010. The pilot was not however subjected to a flight ban.
Following the arrest, the accused pilot called for a re-judgment session of the case.
A new trial expected is in May, during which he will be able to defend himself.
