Queen Alia International Airport
Amman - Fana News

As of the end of May, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has welcomed a total of 2,981,088 passengers in 2017, indicating a 3.8% year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic (PAX) in comparison to the same period in 2016, according to statistics released by Airport International Group.

Furthermore, 619,630 passengers travelled through QAIA in May 2017, marking a small dip of 1.9% in comparison to the same month of last year, it said.

Airport International Group stated that, throughout May, the Airport recorded 6,268 aircraft movements (ACM), representing a year-on-year rise of 1.0%, while YTD ACM witnessed a marginal decline of 1.0%. In addition, 9,185 tons of cargo were handled, exhibiting an increase of 2.2% against figures from May 2016, which marked a 6.5% drop in YTD cargo traffic, the statistics showed.

“We’re pleased to see that we have transcended last year’s benchmark and hope to continue pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations in the months and years ahead. With summer well under way, we anticipate favorable figures as many people take advantage of the warm weather and holiday season to travel with their friends and families,” commented Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group.
