The Dubai Criminal Court awarded three Kenyan porters at Dubai International Airport three months in jail for stealing jewellery and accessories from passengers’ luggage, the Dubai Criminal Court heard. MAM, 24, SBB, 21, and AMM, 23, were also ordered to pay fines of Dh556 each and to be deported after serving their jail terms. The three had agreed to commit the thefts and hide the things stolen from passengers’ luggage. First Corporal (Airport Security) Majid Ali testified that while he was on duty MAM was transferred to him for search. “Gold jewellery and accessories were found in his possession. MAM confessed to stealing these items from luggage while carrying them from the plane to the conveyor belt. He also confessed that he was helped by his colleague SBB. AMM’s role was in hiding the stolen thins in the airport. He also confessed,” he testified.
