The Municipality of Sharjah has announced that it has updated all the automated money accepting machines such as parking meters in the emirate so that they are now able to accept the new UAE coins.Manager of Public Affairs Atif Zarouni said that on the basis of its commitment to facilitate all procedures and ease service to the public, Sharjah City Municipality has announced the updating of all devices for automatic payment throughout the city.All automated payment machines are now accepting the new half-dirham and one dirham denominations after the completion of the procedures of modernisation. This was part of the efforts by the municipal authorities to provide the best services and facilities to the public and to overcome any obstacles that may be faced by them, he said.Zarouni that that municipal inspectors at paid parking sites are instructed to provide all necessary support to the public by answering any questions and helping them in the interest of the municipality to raise awareness among the public and not to obstruct the movement of vehicles.The municipality has organised several public awareness campaigns against the misuse of parking positions, especially in markets and crowded places.All automated payment devices are now accepting new currencies in addition to the old currency since the beginning of March.He also pointed out that the municipality was treating any defect to any device instantly to ease service to the public.He also urged the public to cooperate with the municipality and to abide by the rules in order to provide quality service to all. source : Gulftoday
