Kuwaiti Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Sabah has met with Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano discussing issues of common interest namely possible exempting Kuwaiti citizens from the Schengen tourist visa.
During the meeting, held at the Italian Interior Ministry headquarters, the two sides also talked about aspects of mutual cooperation in the security field, exchange of experience, latest investigation techniques and border security.
Kuwait Embassy in Italy said, in a statement to KUNA, that the ambassador praised Rome's strong support for the request for exemption of Schengen tourist visa for Kuwaitis and reviewed Italian efforts within the EU to achieve this.
The talks also tackled problems facing entry of Kuwaiti patients, students and scholarships to Italy, in addition to facilitating visits by Kuwaiti tourists and businessmen to Italy, with consideration to the forecast attendance of thousands of people of (Expo Milan 2015), which will kick off in May next year.
For his part, Minister Alfano stressed his country's keenness on boosting cooperation and the special friendship with Kuwait, noting Kuwait's main role in face of security challenges, namely mounting terrorist threats.
