A high-speed train connecting Cairo and Aswan, which will be implemented in cooperation with China, will shorten travel time to four hours only, said Egypt's Transport Minister Hani Dahi.
In exclusive statements to MENA correspondent here before leaving Beijing, Dahi said that the project is still under discussion between the two sides, adding that he believes that a projected visit by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to China would encourage the two countries to implement the project.
The Chinese side is keen on implementing he project, he affirmed.
The project would contribute to facilitating traffic movement from and into Cairo, he went on to say.
He further said that the project will be funded by the Chinese side and with a repayment period of up to 20 years.
