Gulf Air said that, due to inclement weather conditions in Riyadh on Wednesday, its flight GF167, an Airbus A330 departing Bahrain International Airport at 15:45 Bahrain time to King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital city with 107 passengers and 11 crew, experienced severe turbulence on approach into King Khalid airport and was subsequently diverted to Bahrain, landing in Bahrain International Airport at 19:15."
The aircraft resumed the flight once weather conditions had cleared in Riyadh, departing Bahrain at 20:37 and arriving at King Khalid airport at 22:01.
"Gulf Air extends its sincerest apologies to all passengers for any inconvenience caused by weather conditions that were beyond the airline’s control," the company said. "Bahrain’s national carrier always strives to deliver the highest standards of customer service while delivering on its commitment to the safety and security of its passengers and crew."
