Colombia's Civil Aeronautics reported on Saturday that 754 flights leaving and arriving at Bogota's El Dorado Airport were affected because of a damage in the edge lights of the terminal's north runway.
"We invite all passengers at the airport to comply with the recommendations of the airlines staff and customer service of the Civil Aeronautics regarding possible changes in their itineraries," said a statement, adding that the north runway was closed on Saturday afternoon because the edge lights were not working properly.
The Civil Aeronautics said that reparation work has been underway to ensure aviation safety and reduce the flights being affected.
El Dorado Airport, which is completing its process of renewal, serves some 27 million passengers a year, making it the third busiest airport in Latin America behind Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the International Airport of Mexico City.
