Residents of the UAE capital can now enjoy the natural wonder of Bu Tinah Island at the Corniche starting Friday. The Environment Agency — Abu Dhabi (EAD) is creating a prototype of the island in a dome titled ‘Bu Tinah Experience\' which features a lagoon with live turtles and mangroves. It is a reduced-scale model of Bu Tinah Island with special effects to bring it to life for visitors, according to a press release issued by the EAD yesterday. The white dome on the Abu Dhabi Corniche has been generating interest on social media such as Facebook and Twitter as well as among passersby. As the island is restricted to visitors except for scientific research, visitors will be given an insight into the unique marine life on the island. It gives visitors the chance to get up close and personal with marine conservation projects run by EAD and other groups such as the Emirates Wildlife Society in association with the World Wildlife Fund (EWS-WWF). This initiative has been introduced to create greater awareness about the importance of conserving the UAE\'s biodiversity and to support the UAE\'s bid for the island to become one of the New7Wonders (N7W) of Nature. The N7W competition will draw to a close on November 11 and people have only 44 days left to vote.
