The National Company for the Maritime Transport of passengers (ENTMV) will soon purchase three to five ships, after the evaluation of the experimental stage of the future urban maritime services of Algiers Harbour- El Djamila Harbour (Ain Benian), said Thursday in Algiers Transport minister Amar Ghoul.
The ENTMV, in charge of exploiting the urban maritime lines, started the preparation of a file to start negotiations dealing with the acquisition of ships, along with the chartering of other ships to launch maritime lines such as the one relating the Harbour of Algiers to El-Djamila harbour (Ain Benian),” said Ghoul on the sidelines of a plenary session devoted to oral questions at the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament).
Ghoul also indicated that the “ENTMV already started negotiations with operators in France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey in order to have the best offer, compatible with the specificities of the Algerian harbours,” adding that a deal was agreed on with one of the operators for the chartering of a ship without revealing its identity.
