Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Ltd announced on Sunday the delivery of the first 737/800 Boeing aircraft to EgyptAir as part of a 2016 deal to upgrade the national carrier fleet.
The new jet is part of a USD 864 million deal EgyptAir signed with Boeing in October 2016 to purchase eight of the next-generation series planes.
The delivery of this aircraft (MSN 63799) took place at the Boeing delivery center in Seattle this morning.
The seven other planes will be handed over to Egypt later this year.
Under the deal, the DAE, a globally recognized aerospace company headquartered in Dubai, will finance the eight Boeings and lease them to Egypt for 12 years.
The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the successful Next-Generation 737 family. Known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and economic performance, the 737-800 is selected by leading carriers throughout the world because it provides operators the flexibility to serve a wide range of markets.
