Transport Minister Saad el Gioushi and Austrian Ambassador in Cairo George Stillfried attended on Thursday the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
The MoU was concluded between the Egyptian Transportation Ministry and Austrian Kapsch TrafficCom Company.
After the signing of the MOU, El Gioushi said Egypt should apply the ITS as they are being used by many Arab and European countries, adding the Egyptian state budget will not bear any burden to implement the deal.
This agreement comes as part of the Egyptian leadership's directives to accelerate the usage of the ITS on all roads to reduce accidents.
The ITS are advanced applications which, without embodying intelligence as such, aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management and enable various users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of transport networks.
