Irish capital city Dublin has been voted the fifth friendliest city in the world, according to an annual survey released on Friday.
The annual readers' choice survey, conducted by U.S. travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, showed that Dublin shared its fifth place spot with Australia's Sydney and was the only European city in the top five.
The other top four friendliest cities are New Zealand's Auckland, Australia's Melbourne, Canada's Victoria, U.S. Charleston, according to the survey.
The magazine said that Dublin has jumped up eight places from 13th friendliest last year.
Conde Nast Traveler is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine published by Conde Nast, the New York-based mass media company. The magazine was founded in 1987 and is now becoming the world's premier travel magazine.
The other European city in the top 10 was Seville, Spain at number nine.
Dublin is described by the magazine's readers as a "vibrant city" and, in a nod to its literary fame, as a "bibliophile's dream".
It was also noted for being "green, lush and very walkable" and "the kind of place you stop in for a drink in a local pub, only to end up chatting with the locals for the next five hours".
