Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has showcased several enhanced versions of its smart phone apps at the on-going GITEX show. The department is exhibiting an update on its existing ‘Definitely Dubai’ smartphone app that is designed to help tourists and visitors. DTCM has also launched a new initiative which will digitally map Dubai’s 600 plus hotel establishments and future planned hotels. This Geographic Information system (GIS) is still in its developmental stage. The initiative aptly named Dubai Hotels Supply Live Link has been designed to provide latest available data on Dubai’s current and planned hotel supply to decision-makers and planners within the government and private sector. Suhail Buhelaiba, director of information technology at DTCM said: “The Definitely Dubai app has been upgraded to include a new design and navigation, new links to related content such as information about the UAE’s bid for Expo 2020, and new sharing options for information about Dubai, enabling users to share insights about Dubai that will be useful to tourists and residents.Other e-services we are exhibiting include definitelydubai.com, dubaicalendar.com, and services related to Dubai hotel classifications, e-booking and flight-booking.” The development of the Dubai Hotels Supply Live Link is representative of DTCM’s focus on developing e- and smart-services benefiting both visitors and industry partners. The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) have also launched a unique DSF portal at www.mydsf.ae in advance of the festival’s 19th edition. The new portal showcases new features and functionalities and is available in three languages – Arabic, English and Chinese. Source: Travel Daily
