The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has announced the emirate’s first promotional summer campaign to attract more domestic tourists under the slogan ‘Do More in Dubai’. “If you can’t afford to travel outside, then come and enjoy the summer in Dubai,” said Eyad AbdulRahman, Executive Director of Media Relations and Business Development, DTCM. The initiative aims to increase the number of domestic tourists in the country, in addition to the promotions to woo international tourists. “In collaboration with The Dubai Mall, the DTCM will print and distribute around 20,000 Dubai Mall Discount Shopping Booklets with reductions up to 70 per cent in different categories to visitors coming in the summer between June 15 and September 30,” AbdulRahman said. The DTCM aims to boost growth in the domestic tourism sector, which will contribute positively to the economic growth of the emirate.“We are promoting around 25 main attractions and entertainment (facilities) in Dubai such as the Dolphinarium, the Big Bus, the iFly Dubai, Wild Wadi etc,” he said. “As many as 77 well-known hotels across Dubai welcome guests from the UAE and the world to stay and enjoy summer promotions, including free accommodation for two children below the age of 12, free access to health centres and spas, and 20-30 per cent discount on meals in selected restaurants in the hotels, while children benefit a free breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotels they stay in,” he added. The DTCM would try to improve the occupancy rates of hotels during the holy month of Ramadan through special promotions.
