Dubai International (DI) has won another prestigious industry accolade as the best airport for cargo in the Middle East at the Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) Awards held in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. This follows Dubai International’s impressive performance at the coveted Airports Council International’s (ACI’s) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards in February, where the airport earned recognition as the Best Airport in the Middle East and Most Improved Airport in the Middle East for the second consecutive year. Welcoming Dubai International’s win at the ACE Awards, Andrew Walsh, Vice President, Cargo & Logistics at Dubai Airports, said: “We are very pleased with the recognition, which is much coveted as a direct recognition from the industry. Dubai is the fourth busiest airport for international freight according to the Airport Council International’s latest figures and we have some of the best infrastructure and cargo facilities available. To be recognised as not only one of the world’s busiest but also the best is a great honour. We have always been focused on enhancing our customer service and the value we offer.” As part of a $7.8 billion airport expansion plan, Dubai Airports plans to increase its cargo capacity at Dubai International by adding 30,000 square metres to its Cargo Mega Terminal at Dubai International over the next five years. Carried out by Air Cargo World, an authoritative industry publication, the Air Cargo Excellence Survey was established in 2005 and is based upon a rating system that measures airlines and airports on specific criteria and subsequently ranks them to identify above or below average performance. In the airport survey airports are rated by airlines on performance, value, facilities, operations, and regulatory operations like customs among others.
