Cairo Metro in the central Cairo square of Attaba is not affected by fire that gutted Attaba telephone exchange building late Wednesday, the Cairo governor said Thursday.
In statements after inspecting the fire scene, Galal Moustafa said there is coordination with the civil protection agencies to restore electricity that was cut in areas in the vicinity of the building as a precautionary measure.
Investigations are underway into the cause of the fire.
Civil protection forces managed to contain in the fire in a record time. More than 20 fire engines were sent to the fire scene.
No casualties were reported from the blaze.
