Receiving the top accolade for the best health tourism destination, Bath Tourism Plus picked up Gold at the annual 50+ Awards Gala Reception at London Olympia’s Pillar Hall on Friday 13th July 2012. The 50+ Awards showcase the best that life has to offer for those who are 50+ and is organised and presented by the 50+ Show. The awards are solely based on internet nominations and votes of those who are aged 50+. Coming ahead of Spain and Cyprus, Bath’s award followed a public nomination phase, with shortlists of the most nominated in each category then being put to a public vote. Over 6500 voters cast a total of 211,465 votes in 53 categories. With an average age of 64, the voters represented a total of 421,760 years of experience! Nick Brooks Sykes, Chief Executive of Bath Tourism Plus said: “This award reconfirms that Bath holds greatest appeal for independently minded and traditionally orientated visitors, such as the 50+ age group. Since Roman times, Bath has been identified as a place of pleasure and rejuvenation. By having the only natural thermal springs in the UK, Bath is the ultimate spa destination.”
