All arrangements have been completed at Al-Ahsa regional airport to start international flights by the end of January, said Abdullatif Al-Afalek, head of the Tourism Committee at Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He thanked Prince Fahd bin Abdullah, president of General Authority of Civil Aviation, for pulling out all stops in enabling the airport to operate international flights. GACA expects the number of passengers using Al-Ahsa airport would cross 300,000 annually by 2020. Officials from GACA, Passports and Customs visited the airport recently to ascertain its preparedness to launch international flights. Al-Afalek said Al-Ahsa would witness implementation of more investment projects in the coming years. They include Salwa Industrial City and an industrial city for women, which is expected to draw investments worth more than SR 1.5 billion. From Arab News
