Air Malta has re-branded one of its Airbus A320 aircraft to promote Valletta’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2018. The aircraft was presented to the media during an event hosted by the airline and the Valletta 2018 Foundation, who are championing the bid. Before landing in Malta, the aircraft with registration 9H-AEO and commemorative flight number KM2018, performed a fly-past over the Luqa airfield and received a water cannon salute upon landing. Branded with the words ‘Valletta European Capital of Culture 2018’, the new livery portrays Valletta’s magnificent skyline and features Baroque designs. This is the first time Air Malta has conducted a livery change of this nature and marks the airline’s support of Valletta’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2018. Started in 1985, the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) initiative highlights the richness and diversity of European cultures; celebrate the cultural ties that link Europeans together and promotes mutual understanding to foster a feeling of European citizenship. Air Malta flies from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester, with one way fares starting from just £69* with hot meals and complimentary drink, a generous 20kg baggage allowance and taxes and surcharges included as standard. Flights, hotels and car hire can all be booked at www.airmalta.com. *Applicable on selected Gatwick and Manchester flights, subject to availability.
